the book i had chosen to read is a long way gone, memoirs of a boy soldier. from the jump this book seemed very interesting. reading the horrific stories of what this young boy ismael had gone through and seen at such a young age is unbelievable. ishamel is only ten years old when the unraveling of it all happens. ishamel had lost a lot during the war. ishamel and his 2 friends had essentially left their village to go to a talent show. later finding out that their village has been attacked by rebels and that the village they were in was next. ishmael and his friends escape before the rebels arrive to the village. in the path they try and go back to their old village that had been attacked by rebels. on their path back they stumble upon horrific sights. dead bodies, blood, and lost children all over the place it was truly a nightmare. for days the boys were hungry, looking for food. they caught themselves starting to steal food from children. ishmael later becomes a soldier fighting the rebels. the soldiers are known for drug use. used to help them fight during the war. ishamel believes that each rebel he had killed avenged his family. ishmaels lieutenant gives the soilders up to UNICEF. ishamel is then taken to a rehabilitation center for his use of cocaine and marijuana. ishmael struggles at first with his past. ishmael later finds love and compassion. ishamel is taken in by a family in freetown and is welcomed with love and kindness. ishamel is invited to new york city by the united nations as well as others to tell their stories about their experience from the war. ishmael realises others have suffered from the war as well. laura simms a storyteller who later becomes his future foster mom wants to share and tell is experience to the rest of the world in hopes that it could prevent such things to repeat and happen to children. ishamel gets the opportunity to start a new life in the united states and takes it. a long way gone was a very interesting read and is by far one of my favorites. its very sad but beautiful, reading ishamels life story makes you realize that these things do happen sadly around the world. i definitely recommend this book and enjoyed reading every bit of it.

recently i have been able to catch up on some shows and start some new shows that have been recommended to me. the shows include money heist, elite, and all american. all american was recommended to me. at first i didn't really enjoy it since i found it very predictable. all american is about a highschool football player named spencer who gets discovered by a beverly hills high school football coach, coach baker. coach baker wants spencer to play for beverly hills high to win state champs. the more you watch the show, the more secrets unravel. the show got more entertaining as i kept watching. it included gang violence, racial profiling, and drug use. it was somewhat good at demonstrating problems teens actually face during high school and growing up.

i had been waiting a while for part 4 of money heist. money heist is one of my favorite shows on netflix. i had grown very attached to these fictional characters who are thieves. there is not a single dull moment in this show. the first 2 parts of the show start with the first heist. the thieves aren't able to have a personal relationship with each other. the characters are all named after cities around the world to hide their real name. the professor is the mastermind behind it all. the professor had a genius but crazy plan to rob the royal mint (spain). my favorite character from the show is rio and denver. denver is hilarious and also a sweetheart with a funny laugh. rio is very smart with computer skills and also a sweetheart. the first episode and you're hooked. the audio is in spanish but subtitles help out so its a must watch. the show will make you cry and laugh it's just a great show overall. i had watched part 4 for 8 hours straight upon the release. totally worth it

elite is another one of my favorites. i had also been waiting upon the release of the 3rd season. the show is based on a group of teens from spain in a rich private school. 3 new kids who got a scholarship show up to the new private school. at first they are outcasts but later become more and more involved in the friend group. the show includes a lot of drama but and also murder. my favorite characters are ander, valerio, and carla. ander grows a lot through the show, being closeted ander faces a lot of obstacles in the show but overcomes each and everyone. valerio starts off as a coke head but grows more as time goes on. carla was always looked at as a beautiful rich girl, but as time goes on she grows more. she outgrows the stereotypical type and becomes much more than that. she is faced with a lot of tough obstacles and situations that normal high school girls don't usually go through.

there's nothing I love more than Christmas. during the holidays I feel as though my mood is 10 times happier than usual. this Christmas I will be flying to North Carolina to spend time with close family. I enjoy visiting my cousins in North Carolina. I seem to have a better time with my family around and together. Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. not only because of presents but giving presents. I enjoy shopping for others. seeing their reaction to the gifts I have given them. I pay close attention to details for presents. I consider the things they would actually use. I try not to buy gift cards. gift cards scream I didn't know what to get you. I love going to malls during the holidays. decorated for the holidays. I also enjoy decorating my house with Christmas themed decorations. drinking hot chocolate and watching Christmas movies is one of the perfect things to do during the holidays. ice skating and light shows are one of the best things to do on a date. taking pictures with Santa at the mall is one of the best memories as a child. my mother cooks her tamales usually every year which is another thing I also look forward to during the holidays. I can now finally start celebrating the best holiday ever.

this weekend I used my free time to finish the series sex and the city as well as both movies that came after the series ended. sex and the city definitely earn a spot on my list of the best shows I have watched. not only is the show based upon romance but the characters wear designer brands and are very fashionable. my favorite character from the show definitely has to be Miranda. Miranda is a Harvard graduate who is currently working as a lawyer. Miranda ends up getting married to steve. steve is a bartender. Steve and Miranda date for a couple months before Miranda decided to end it because she was no longer interested in steve. months later steve and Miranda find each other again. Miranda ends up having steves child, Brady. Miranda and Steve weren't together during the pregnancy. worked on a schedule on days that Miranda has the baby and steve does. Miranda and steve start seeing other people but soon realize that they still love each other. Steve and Miranda end up marrying each other in a small ceremony with only close friends and family. Miranda has a very tuff personality, she's a very independent woman who won't take nothing from no one. this show has taught me a lot about the work put into relationships and how they aren't always easy. I truly can't wait to rewatch it.

Gone Girl a very suspenseful book that I would like to read again and again. the suspense makes you want to read more and more. no other book has caught my attention like this before I am currently on page 509. the main character in the book is called amy. Amy is missing but the more and more you read you start to figure out what actually happens. nick who is Amy's husband comes home one day to find amy missing and what looked like a forced entry into their home. iron on, broken glass everywhere, and bloodstains. before Nick comes home he goes to the bar which is a bar he owns. Nick's sister margo and he talks about the issues nick is facing with amy. nick is contemplating when is the right time to tell Amy that he wants a divorce. margo tells nick that the sooner he does it will be better for him. nick had the intention of coming home and talking to amy only to find out that she's missing. a couple pages into the book you soon realize that Nick was always very controlling of amy. not letting amy make decisions for herself. we soon realize that amy is not missing but actually ran away and is plotting a big plan to get back at nick for thinking about leaving her even after she moved away from her family to be with nick during his mother's illness and helping nick financially with opening his bar. Amy feels as though she's been used and is tired by the treatment she has received by nick. nick has hurt amy physical as well and is scared that one day nick will hurt her bad. amy has been writing in diaries about how her day goes. I've had a good experience reading this book. gone girl is a thriller which is one of my favorite genres. gone girl is anything but boring and dull.

i had a dream a while back that i significantly remember very distinctly about attending the met gala. the met gala is a big event where celebrities and other famous people gather in new york at the met and get dressed up by big fashion brands such as Gucci, Valentino, and Versace. in my dream i had on a blue gown with butterfly decals all around it. i was set up in a new york hotel getting ready for the event. after I'm done getting all ready i get into a black car which takes me to the met. after i hop off the car i go onto the red carpet. after the driver lends me a hand getting out i see Kim Kardashian and Kanye west walk past me. Kanye west is one of my favorite musicians. i start to fan girl a lot. after everyone has walked the red carpet its time to enter into the museum. the inside of the museum is covered in beautiful red roses. some roses are shaped into beautiful designs. after walking inside. the amount of celebrities, millionaires, and politicians is crazy. Ive never seen so many powerful people under one roof. i start chatting with a lot of people such as Madonna, Kanye, Kylie Jenner, and Justin Bieber. after walking around the exhibits in the met everyone sat down and got ready to watch the performer of the evening. this year the performer was Rihanna. Rihanna is truly the only person that can wear anything and make it look good. right before she was done with her set i sadly woke up to the sound of my mom trying to wake me up for school.

Independent reading

The book i have chosen for my independent reading is a book called Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. the reason why i chose this book because my friend recommended me the book and told me the back story and plot of what the book is based off. I'm not fond of reading. if i were to do something on my free time it definitely wouldn't be reading. however this book isn't like the others that Ive read before. the characters in this book are very interesting. the plot of the story is something that Ive never heard of before. I'm not very far in this book. i am on page 22. I'm currently still getting familiar with the main characters which are Amy and nick. Amy and nick are a married couple but things get very eerie when Amy is all of a sudden missing. i have yet to make predictions since i am still getting familiar with the characters. i do however believe that nick has something to do with Amy's disappearance since they re marriage wasn't smooth sailing.i have observed that nick makes decisions for him and Amy as well. nick makes the decisions in the relationship without consulting with Amy first. i haven't had any trouble yet reading this book. i seem to grasp and understand whats going on with the characters and getting familiar with the scene since the author has been very descriptive. i do however need to stop procrastinating and read more pages each day. i hope to start getting into reading more since Ive come to realize from reading in class that it is actually very calming and i find it to be very relaxing. reading this book has been very pleasant since it is something that i would actually find interesting and mysterious to read.

Hey, my name is Brianna Cruz. In my first ever blog ill be talking about myself and my interests. Like most people i have a very basic middle name which is Elizabeth. I have a pet dog who i would die for. My favorite animal is a flamingo. My favorite singer is frank ocean. I got my tonsils removed in 5th grade but i wasn't mad about it since i got to eat ice cream in the morning. i broke my thumb once falling off my bike and had to graduate elementary school with a very hideous cast on my right hand, i have a surgical pin in my right hand and i have a scar from my surgery. i like collecting and shopping for Cd's. the places i want to travel to in the future are japan, Spain, England, Russia, Switzerland, Italy, Greece, and France. i speak 3 languages which are Italian, Spanish, and English. i hope to learn a couple more languages in the future. my birthday is on June 25th, I'm a cancer. my favorite color is blue. i like when it rains in the morning. i like candles that smell like fall. my favorite season is winter. i absolutely love Christmas and look forward to it every year.
